What to Buy, Cook and Eat when Sailing

As any sailor will be happy to confirm, food and drinks on board are of utmost importance. Not only because there is often little else to look forward to, or because it structures your days, but also because eating is the best and only way to not get seasick. We always remind ourselves that on a boat you must cover yourself before you get cold, drink before you get thirsty, and eat before you are hungry.
There are a few issue though: food is not always easy to come by as supermarkets don’t tend to be built on the seafront, when traveling you often don't find the kind of food you are used to or looking for, and keeping fresh food on board is often a challenge – especially in warmer climates.
While we won’t start a pretend cooking class on this blog, anyone who has been on board of CALM will testify that we have a pretty solid experience when it comes to meal planning, creating yummy recipes out of nothing, and a long list of sail-proven meals. So, if you are just looking for an idea for your next dinner or if you are keen on getting your hands on the recipe of some delicious French cuisine, you won’t be disappointed.
