Exploring Coastlines and Going Ashore
Visiting places when sailing is a very different experience than when traveling by land. Your dingy is your car, your entry points a marina or an empty beach, and the places you explore are often closer to the coast than the interior. As soon as you want to venture further inland the logistics can become quite complicated, but it is almost always worth it.
As we are travelling quite far in only eight months, we won’t be able to visit all places on our path and pay them the consideration they undoubtedly deserve. However, when traveling by boat you often get a very distinct feeling for the islands and their inhabitants even in a relatively short time span, so we will endeavour to share as much of our impressions and experiences as we can: on places, people, and the ports we visit.
So, if you are planning your next vacation anywhere between the Antilles and Tahiti, if you enjoy reading travel journals, or if you are simply curious, I hope you will find some inspiration and joy in these pages.
